“The Bowie Bowie Baysox”
Sorry it’s been a bit since I’ve blogged - our house seems to have been struck by some sort of flu (again!) and I’ve been down for the count….but fortunately pepped up enough to shoot a fun wedding yesterday (I’ll post about that later!).
I did want to share this funny story and photos though! Part of our county-wide reading program incentives was to reward kids who read enough books with a free ticket to the Orioles farm team, the Bowie Baysox. Now, we have never taken the girls to a game (and honestly, we don’t watch baseball, so it’s never even occured to us prior to this…) but it’s really close to where we live and the tickets are pretty cheap, so we packed the girls up last Saturday evening and headed to the ball park.
The title of this post is “Bowie Bowie Baysox” because my daughter has called it that ever since she heard she could earn a ticket by reading, which just totally cracks me up! I don’t know where or why she calls it that, but it’s hilarious when she says it - you know how it is when kids say something completely wrong, but you let them cause it’s so cute?
So, we got there in plenty of time for her to participate in the ‘parade’ out on the field with all the other kids, but she didn’t want to do that, so we grabbed some seats pretty low - which she didn’t like! So we moved up to the last row….and then the begging began…popcorn, cotton candy, lollipop, ice cream, hotdogs….and so goes the entire game. As soon as the begginng started Greg and I wondered how many innings the girls would last - the game started at 7:05 and that is pretty close to bedtime for our girls….and then we laughed about how many innings WE would last! Even with the promise of fireworks at the end of the game we didn’t think they’d make it til the end.
How many innings do you think we made it through? I’ll tell you that it was enough for me to take some funny photos, but if you want to leave me your guess I’ll post the answer later this week!
Here are some of our funny photos - enjoy!
This shot just cracks me up - mostly because of my daughters face in the lower right corner…priceless!
They did LOVE the cotton candy - she couldn’t decide if she wanted to eat it or snuggle with it! LOL!
It was a beautiful night for a game!
I’m not too good at the self-portraits, as you can see we cut off the little ones head, but at least part of her is in it, right?! I guess I better start doing more practicing with this fancy technique!
This was outside the stadium as we were leaving, and it was really dark out, but I thought it looked fun! The girls were just excited to be headed to Rita’s Italian Ice for one last treat on the way home!
Thanks for looking!
