Rachel, Casey & The Black Eyed Susan!

November 25th, 2008 by Jen Lowe

One of my last weddings of this season was a wonderful day spent with Rachel and Casey on the Black Eyed Susan! It was a first for me - a wedding and reception on a boat - and it was FUN!

I met up with Rachel at her mothers house, where she spent her entire life, growing up and JUST moved out. She was such a calm bride. Having had her hair done in the morning she did her makeup and took the time to sit down for a peanut butter sandwich and a  glass of milk!

Rachel is such a great girl! And I can say that she and Casey are a perfect match for each other - they balance each other out….see, instead of a nervous/stressed bride, Casey  was actually the stressed out groom! Rachel was flanked by her brother Mark, who served as her ‘Man of Honor’, along with her friend Melissa. Casey was flanked by his brother Justin and several friends - it was such a nice bridal party!

We headed down to Baltimore, where Rachel got ready and Casey took all the phone calls from guests trying to find their way to the Black Eyed Susan - a paddle boat that docks on Broadway, all the way at the end of Fells Point.  Pastor Gann, Rachel’s pastor for her entire life, performed a very touching ceremony that was also interpreted in sign language by a long time family friend, as Rachel’s parent are both deaf, as were some of their guests. It was very special. Once the ceremony was over it was time for the Black Eyed Susan to take off for a cruise around the Baltimore Harbor all the way out to the Key Bridge - it was VERY cool!

Rachel and Casey also decided to do a post-wedding session after their wedding, so that they could get some pretty fall foilage photos - not much of that down on Broadway, you know?! They spend 2 nights out at a B&B in St. Michael’s and on a VERY cold Monday afternoon we met up for our session. It was so nice for them to be relaxed and enjoy the session and we got some gorgeous photos. I’m so glad they decided to do the session!

Here are a few of my favorites from the day, but CLICK HERE to see their slideshow!

Some casual shots of this cute couple…

The bridal party…

Some reception action…

Rachel & Casey were really nervous about their first dance (they DON’T dance)….but they did just fine!

A few random reception shots….

And of course - some details….

They had an incredible candy buffet - all super unique and delicious fall themed candies - YUM!

This is the Black Eyed Susan.

This sign made me laugh so of course I had to take a photo of it!

And here are some shots from our post-wedding session on a freezing Monday afternoon. Rachel was a champ - she didn’t complain about the cold at all! It was nice to have them relaxed and with no time constraints. This is a great option for couples who want to take photos in an alternative location or at another time so they aren’t rushing on the day of the wedding!

Rachel and Casey - thanks so much for allowing me to share in your wedding day! It was a gorgeous day filled with lots of love and fun! I wish you a joyous holiday season!

Mandee & Sean’s Engagement Session!

November 19th, 2008 by Jen Lowe

Oh my gosh - I had such a good time with Mandee and Sean! These two are such a fun couple - I knew at our first meeting that they would be fun and up for anything. Not to mention her love of kitties just like me! These two have huge hearts - they took in EIGHT kittens a few weeks ago (in addition to her 3 adult kitties)!!!

We meet up at the Dunkirk Park on a cool fall day to do their session. There were lots of fun spots to shoot in the park, especially with the pretty autumn colors. Like most of my sessions we pick a spot to start and then wander around to find what catches our eye and/or inspiration - and it always works out for the best. This time we found a huge pile of logs and some beautiful woods! Love it! And who can resist a fun couple on a playground? Not me!

So, enough chit chat - here are a few of my favorites, but CLICK HERE to see their slideshow!

See what I mean? Super fun girl!

Aren’t they a cute couple?!

Mandee & Sean - I am so excited for the wedding! Stay out of trouble this winter!!

Need a Minister?? Rev. Laura is your girl!

November 19th, 2008 by Jen Lowe

Last summer I had the pleasure of meeting Rev. Laura Canon at Holli & Doug’s wedding. Laura is a super awesome person AND a non-denominational minister whom I have gotten to know better since last summer. She is awesome and I am looking forward to working with her for Tiffany and John’s wedding next year!

Rev. Laura is getting ready to redesign her website and contacted me for some pretty new headshots. I was thrilled to be able to do a session for her - especially after she told me that the photos she had previously used on her site where photos she took HERSELF with a point and shoot!! LOL! I figured I could at least do a little better than that! =)

Whenever I shoot portraits for people I try to capture their true personality. Laura is so nice and fun and caring so I really wanted to get her ‘real’ smile - no forced smiles. She quickly relaxed and I really think we got some pretty shots! Here are a few of my favorites from our session - I can’t wait to see what she ends up using on her new site design!

So, if you are in the market for a minister for your wedding (or any other needs) check out Laura’s site - she is a delight - you’ll love her! You will NOT be disappointed! She’s a gem!

Laura - thanks for thinking of me for your photos - I hope you love them! Can’t wait to see your new site!
