So, what do you do when you’ve planned your wedding day for a year and it ends up being the same day as the worst snow storm in 5 years? (I mean, we all worry about rain, but I’ve never really had to worry about snow! I mean, we live in Maryland - it just doesn’t really snow that much here!!)
Well, in the case of Kim and Ben, you just keep smiling and roll with it!
I have to admit that it was a little touch and go there Friday, but on Saturday morning when I met up with Kim at the Hyatt everybody was in good spirits and ready to get married, despite the winter weather! With a few minor adjustments to the wedding day plans (including moving their reception to Sunday!)…..Kim and Ben, surrounded by the wonderful friends and family that were able to make it out despite the weather, got married at the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore at a wonderful ceremony performed by Rev David Flaherty (he was AWESOME!). The ceremony was so perfect for Kim and Ben and there is something really special about such an intimate gathering. After the ceremony everybody headed back to the Hyatt and had a casual gathering in one of the hospitality suites, complete with pizza and snacks….and I heard through the grapevine that after that Kim, Ben and a bunch of friends headed out to Federal Hill Park to go sledding!!
After a good nights sleep, everybody headed over to the Visionary Arts Museum on Sunday afternoon for a fun reception filled with good friends and family! I even had time to meet up with Kim and Ben before the reception for some fun photos around town - and what bride isn’t thrilled to wear her dress a second time! They didn’t even complain too much about the cold or the snow we stomped through!!
This wedding was filled with such a wonderful cast of vendors, who braved the crazy weather to make Kim & Ben’s wedding day a reality. Without them, this snowy wedding weekend would not have been possible.

Honestly, this wedding was a true pleasure to be a part of! Kim and Ben are a super sweet couple and they were blessed with the presence of the kindest, most loving friends and family. They did NOT let the weather bring down their wedding day - if anything it made their wedding day even more memorable for ALL OF US!
So, here are some of my favorites from the day, but you can CLICK HERE to see their slideshow!
Kim and Ben didn’t really have a bridal party - they had a few special people involved in the wedding, doing readings, ushering, etc., so it was really pretty calm and quiet when I met up with Kim. But as one might imagine when you wedding is in conjunction with a blizzard and the plans are changing by the minute there was A LOT of phone usage! (And this is a great time to give Ben the ‘AWESOME HUSBAND’ award - this guy was on the phone calling EACH ONE of their guests SEVERAL times over the course of 24 hours!! What an great guy!)
The bride and her snow gear! At least she was prepared!
This is Ben’s sister and I just LOVE this shot!
On Sunday we headed out to get some shots with the city in the background and thankfully the Ritz Carlton Residences had cleared their sidewalks for us!
And of course we had to shoot around AVAM - there is so much cool stuff there! Thankfully we ALL wore snowboots so climbing IN and THROUGH the snow wasn’t too big of a deal! They were really good sports!
They even let us shoot a little bit inside the museum…this wall is cool…
And some reception action for you….
And I’m sure that you are wondering….just how many people did show up for Kim and Ben’s wedding?? They had about 35 people in attendance both for their ceremony on Saturday and their reception on Sunday. But sometimes you have to stop and remind yourself of what is REALLY important….they still had an awesome wedding!!
Ben and Kim set up a camera for a little ‘photo booth’ set up and a handful of friends really had fun with it!
And for some nice details….
In addition to the cute cake/cupcakes, Ben and Kim had a HUGE assortment of homemade baked goods courtesy of their family! There were so many different kinds and they were all beautiful (and perfect!)! What a nice touch!
LOVE colored shoes!! Kim rocked the blue heels!

I know it will beone that I remember for a lifetime!! =) I hope the honeymoon was amazing and wish you all the best in the future! hugs!
